Day four of the mandala project. In just two days, our monk has already completed most of the inner gates. Some of those designs on the lotus petals are about three inches off the table (that’s a lot of sand)! I regretfully was not there to see him detailing these but a friend of mine was and told me that it was absolutely mystifying to watch him add the blue shadows on some of the white dots on one of the designs. A slight shake of the hand would be devastating!

This photo has been placed in scraps because my camera hates taking photos without a flash. I refuse to use a flash while the monks are working (I view it as impolite) and must live with the fact that the pictures are yellow-ish and blurry, so please forgive.
